Arizona Hematology Oncology, 1891 W. Orange Grove Road, has joined forces with University Medical Center, allowing the hospital to expand its oncology services and improve access to care for the communities it serves.
Physicians Suresh Katakkar, MD, and Mehrnoosh Zarkoob, MD; nurse practitioners Lois Lattimore and Mary Hook, and approximately 30 staff members are now UMC employees and will continue to care for their patients. Together, the team cares for approximately 3,000 cancer patients each year.
Dr. Katakkar, a fellow of the American College of Physicians, is board certified in hematology/oncology and internal medicine. Dr. Zarkoob is a cancer specialist who is board certified in medical oncology and internal medicine. In addition to cancer specialists, the new UMC location also offers chemotherapy and lab services.
“Tucson is growing and so is UMC,” said UMC President Greg Pivirotto. “We believe this is the perfect location to serve our many patients who live in Northwest Tucson, Marana and Oro Valley.”
In partnership with the Arizona Cancer Center, UMC plans to add more medical and surgical oncologists and further develop cancer services at the new northwest location. Details concerning new programs there will be announced in the near future.
