Pet Therapy
At University Medical Center we maintain the highest level of medical care but we are also aware that there are many components to a child’s recovery.
Research has shown the positive, therapeutic, and healing effects of pet therapy.
Within the pediatric department five volunteers bring their dogs (and sometimes other pets) to visit the children, families and staff on our 3rd floor units.
All of our visiting pet partners go through extensive training and are certified with Delta Society®, whose mission is to improve human health through service and therapy animals.
One of the Delta Society goals is to expand the therapeutic and service role of animals in human health, service, and education. For more information, see Delta Society.
